Why Enthusiasts Are the Defenders of Land Rover's Future

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]A few months ago, CNBC did a piece on Jaguar Land Rover stating how the automaker faces an uncertain future. Since August 2016, parent company Tata Motors has been experiencing a declining stock price. Yet, if there is a silver lining, it is to be found in the North American market. SUVs are the vehicle of choice for most Americans, which is why the re-launch of the Defender is pivotal to JLR's success. Arguably, the Defender was made popular through the enthusiast culture and their affinity of offroading. Three enthusiasts share their history and perception of the brand; and we find out if Land Rover will be able to re-capture the hearts and minds of the enthusiast with the re-launch of the Defender. Tune in to episode #93. From Private Property to a Shared Economy feat. John Rossant

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Recording at La Kretz Innovation Campus, our guest can best be described at this moment in time through the launch of his book Hop, Skip, Go: How The Mobility Revolution is Transforming Our Lives which will be released on November 12th. You can say that this book may be the culmination of all of his work -- from his journalism days at Business Week to event production of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland to currently serving as the Founder and Chairman of the NewCities Foundation. Hop Skip Go is about the billions of people on the move. Underlying each stage of mobility -- from foot to horse to cars and jets -- are the mathematics of three fundamental variables: time, space, and money. Our guest and his co-author and business journalist, Stephen Baker, look beyond the false promises of the past to examine the real future of transportation and the repurcussions for the world's cities and the global economy. Upon graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor's in History, our guest attended the American University in Cairo where he learned the language and culture of the Arabic world. He speaks four languages -- Arabic, English, French, and Italian. [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row] ...
